So, you are a student who is working on some of my ongoing projects and you are about to start writing your draft? Well, I hate to admit this, but the training you'd desperately need to write well has been inadvertantly left out of your undergraduate curricula. While we longbeards are working towards fixing that, here are a few references that will get you going:
- The Science of Scientific Writing, an essay in The American Scientist;
- A Guide to Scientific Writing, an online book that targets chemistry folks, but is easily generalizable to astronomers;
- The Elements of Style, 4th Edition, find it in the Astronomy library;
- Eloquent Science, find it in the Astronomy library;
- The Craft of Scientific Writing, 3rd Edition, find it in the Astronomy library.
